This presentation will discuss immunohistochemistry and compare it to other genetic testing in the histopathology lab, including FISH, CISH, PCR and DNA and RNA blot analyses. We will also discuss new tests currently in developmental stages and which ones of these tests will be most appropriate, depending on the gene and protein targets. The emerging field of theranostics will increasingly use the histopathology lab to provide prognostic, predictive and personalized information on disease processes. This offers a
tremendous opportunity for the histology lab to aid in improving the outcome for our patients.
